Gastric (stomach) cancer is cause by a type of bacterium called Helicobacter pylori, which causes stomach irritation and ulcers. Heavily salted, smoked and pickled foods can also cause gastric cancer. Gastric cancer can be treated better when caught early. There are five layers of the stomach. Most of the gastric cancers start in the mucosa. As the cancer grows bigger and deeper, the cure for a gastric cancer gets worse. The symptoms of gastric cancer include: · Lack of appetite and unexplained weight loss · Abdominal pain · Heartburn · Nausea · Vomiting with blood · Weakness and fatigue Gastric cancer can be treated by radiation therapy, chemotherapy or surgery. Surgery would require the removal of the cancer and the part of the stomach where the cancer was attached.
