Laryngeal cancer is a disease in which cancerous cells form in the larynx. The larynx or the voice box is located just below the pharynx or the throat. Cancers of the larynx account for approximately 2-5% of diagnosed cancers. More than twice as many men as women are diagnosed. Most cases occur between the ages of 50 and 70. The use of tobacco and drinking in excess increases your chances of getting Laryngeal cancer. Possible sings of this cancer are a soar throat or cough that does not go away, pain when swallowing, ear pain, a lump in the neck or the throat, or a change in the voice. Many tests may be taken to see if a person has this cancer such as a Laryngoscopy. Many treatment options are available such as surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, chemoprevention and Radiosensitizers.
