The nasal cavity is an area of the face which includes the protruding nose along with its nostrils and the structures inside the nose. Fortunately, most types of nasal cavity infections are not cancerous. Most are simply just infections or capillaries, which can cause things such as frequent nose bleeds. If the tumor is malignant though, it can spread to any part of the body at any time.
Cancer of the Nasal Cavity is relatively rare. Each year in the United States there are about 1000 new cases of nasal and Para nasal sinus cancer leading to about 300 deaths annually from this disease. Men are affected twice as often as women with nasal related cancers.
There are certain risk factors that go along with Nasal Cavity cancer. You are more likely to get it if you use tobacco, have certain infections, have a lowered immunity, have a history of cancer in your family, or you breathe sawdust regularly.
