Tips on selecting an Architecture school
1. Accreditation - Architectual college searching presents many different varieties of accredited education. The National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) is the sole agency authorized to accredit US professional degree programs in architecture. Since most state registration boards in the United States require any applicant for licensure to have graduated from a NAAB-accredited program, obtaining such a degree is an essential aspect of preparing for the professional practice of architecture. There are currently 113 school offering NAAB accredited programs to choose from.
2. Requirements - Many schools require that you complete at least an associate’s degree at any accredited degree awarding college or university. It is smart to choose a degree in some field that works well with your desired architectural colleges courses.
3. Location - Within the United States, there are schools in almost every state. Some architecture colleges require that you are a resident of the state in order to apply. Check your school’s policy on out of state residents.
4. Curriculum - Many different types of architecture training programs include residential and commercial interior design, furnishings product and service marketing, hotel and restaurant design, medical and educational institutional design, retail and showroom management, exhibit and architectural firm consulting, adaptive reuse of existing facilities and corporate space planning.(www.houseofedu.com)
